Kolonaki

Kolonaki is a very famous square and area in the centre of Athens

Looking at the Parliament building from Syntagma Square, go up Vasilian Sofia on the left and take the 5th road on the left, it will take you to the Kolonaki square

The whole area on the Left side of the parliament is where the Embassies are, but intermixed with these institutions are some of the most exclusive shops, cafés and restaurants

Many of the offices have private doctors, dentists, cliniques and spas

To live in the Kolonaki area is like living in Mayfair in London, Central Park in New York and Shoutou or Daikanyama in Japan

There are other purely residential areas that are more prestigious, but Koloniki has the prestige and the atmosphere

Lots of the houses have swimming pools on the roof, when you are climbing up Leykevitos, you look down at all the buildings and all you notice are the swimming pools on the roofs

All the shops seam small and too expensive for me, but surprisingly there are often bargains to be found if you like a good hunt

This area is full of Dress Designers, high fashion and wedding for male and female

This is the place to sit and watch the rich and famous go by, you can sit at 3am or 3pm in a café or taverna, the place never sleeps

This is the place to come shopping for the exotic and latest, in fashion and food stuffs, there are many delicatessens and speciality shops that make life easier for us foreigners who live here, if you want sauerkraut or brown sauce, these shops are the ones to look in

All in all, Kolonaki is a place to go to feel posh and spoilt, great fun for me once a month
