Piraeus

This is the Major Port of Greece and is the largest port in Europe (and third largest in the world)

It is a wonderfully mixed up place

It has islands of its coast, 3 natural harbours, one is large and industrial but the other two, and Mikrolimano, used for naval purposes but there are lots of Yachts and fishing boats that work from the sides of the wharfs

There is a large local population and many hotels and expensive apartments along the costal front

There is a thriving night life of Clubs, restaurants, tavernas and during the day it is busy with all things to do with boats and it has a relaxed atmosphere

It has a lot of shopping areas and the major road that connects it with Athens Centre is called Pireaus which has a fantastic variety of shops as it travels through the different suburbs of Athens

The area is hilly and enjoys great cooling breezes of the sea during summer

It has gone under a lot of redevelopment since 2004 and the beaches further along the coast are great, see beaches & marinas

There are a lot of places to visit in the museums and archeologically side, see entertainment
