Whether you go seafood, or haut cuisine, Greece since the Olympics in 2004 has opened up its range of menu and Greeks are loving it

It gives us foreigners a benefit, the places are still around and the food is great

They still have a majority of Tavernas, Souvliki places, Ouzeries and Kafeneons where the men gather and play Tavli (backgammon the Greek way) or dominoes

But there is Thai in Kiffisia, Indian in Pirisi, Italian all over the place and Chinese take aways and restaurants, Japanese sushi and Novel cuisine every where

The fact that Greeks like to eat Greek food, dishes they could do for themselves is a testament that their food is good, not hot and spicy but made to be eaten cold, with sauces to dip bread in and of course the traditional 3 hours for lunch

The fact that they like to eat regional Greek and speciality dishes from other Greek regions, islands and villages, show that there is a variety to the traditional dish
