Athens is the capital city of Greece & was host to the 2004 Olympic Games, this ment it got a good face lift and quite a few new things to make it easier for you, but it did not get rid of the basic Greek style, modern or acient

There is a different pace to the life in Athens depending on the time of year

In winter everyone is happy to work inside and lots of work gets done

During the summer, no one is here – Ok, the things are open but most offices are closed for the whole of August, July is half staffed and the only things moving at this time is the stuff for Tourists

In fact, the Greek business financial year starts in September

The Greeks are used to having their holidays in July and August

These are the two hottest months, but the facilities they use are opened earlier and later than this

The reason is that most family people take July and August off and the single adults fit their holidays into June and September with places opening up for April and May to cover Easter

Hotels and holiday apartments, homes and villas are open for people visiting their families during the festival times and most religious holidays

All the services, shops and agencies run throughout the year for those Events

No matter when you come to Athens, it is going to be alive with Greeks, for Greeks and any Event you may want
