But they can make it for you once we give them the recipe, but to be a really good cake, we must give them the recipe months in advance, to make sure the alcohol has time to soak in enriching the flavour and texture and so that the icing has time to harden
But
They have adopted the International idea of a Wedding Cake
In fact
They have adopted the whole idea of International Cakes for any celebration with a flair, passion and originality
Ice cream cakes with fruit are the latest craze here
They do not traditionally do sponge cake with icing as it dries out too quickly and the icing melts unless it is kept in the fridge, especially butter icing
But you will find they make these to order, normally on the day so they are very fresh

We are not saying that they do not have Greek cakes and biscuits and home made sweets
It is just that they are not the same
They are called ‘glica’ or sweet things, and they are so sweet that they are normally had with coffee
A Glica can be candied fruit, cinnamon biscuits, semolina set squares soaked in glucose, filo pastry with nuts and soaked in glucose, other things soaked in glucose and the moisture sapping dry biscuits at Christmas that have hazel nuts and icing sugar encrusted outsides and of course Halva, Baklava
But there are many Ice Cream Creators; many shops now sell these delicacies in their shops from these local companies
These are the ones who can make you some Extravagant Creation from your favourite sweet foods – just do not ask for Mint Choc Chip
Do not worry, they do have all the international commercial sweets here, not in every kioski, but in Carfore and other Supermarkets
They do have some interesting honey sweets, better food value than Twinkies

You know I told you about the fact that it seams like the shops here are specialised but in reality that they have rigidly enforced guide lines (laws), that states what type of things they can sell
Well
There are Bakeries that can sell baked goods
Confectionaries that can sell confections
Sweet Shops that can sell sweets
Greek cakes and traditional pastries are covered by all the three above
The Cakes you want are only from Confectioners
The actual legal terms and definitions are too boring to go into, but I found that only Confectionaries seam to handle made to order
They have more differences that can be intersting, like ...
If you do rent a self catering apartment without an oven, you can take your oven dish to the local Baker in the morning and pick it up later, cooked and for little cost
