Gifts are for many reasons

If you are going to a wedding you take a gift

If you are going to a birthday or anniversary you take a gift

If you are going to a baptism or a baby shower you take a gift

Here they give gifts on name days to the person who has the name day and the person who has a name day pays for your food and drink if they have a party or buys sweets to give out to people

At the wedding they give boubonyeras to guest as they leave the church

Birthday person arranges and pays for a celebration to give to their friends

The Anniversary, the Baptism and the Baby shower is the same

If you invite some one to dinner, the one inviting pays

There is no 'go Dutch', 'pay your own' or sex discrimination, if a girl invites, she pays

When a place opens and you are invited, you bring a gift and they provide food, if it is a shop you buy something

If you move into a new home, you have a party you arrange and cater for

Tradition is strong here

Gifts here are a big business, the value of what is given is is the value you regard someone

If you visit a friend with a child or children, you take a gift or gifts for the children

You can turn up to someone’s you know well with a bottle of wine, but if it is your first time to their house, you take a gift

Every village has at least one gift shop, on cake shop with sweet pastries to offer the community the easy purchase of gifts to give now

Before they used to have only home made sweets and gifts that were useful for the house

The cost of entertaining is quite height here and they will call a baby 'Baby' until its Baptism, this may be up to a year as the cost of the celebration feast can take a while to save up

Families often celebrate name days together as their names are family names, this spreads the cost and enables families to get together a few times a year no matter where they live

All this means to you is that there are all the services, facilities, artists and shops here ready and experienced in providing gifts and ideas
