Bicycles

There are only a few hardy and experienced people who ride bicycles here, they are mostly for children and used in villages during the holidays.

Here the traffic looks out for Motor Bikes and sees a bicycle as a pedestrian with wheels, you have to dodge them, you have no right of way.

Pedestrians also look out for Motor Bikes, other traffic, but bicycles are not regarded as traffic, they are regarded as someone trying to interfere with the rules of traffic and are expected to go around people.

But in the areas that have village roads that are more like goat tracks, Motor Bikes and bicycles are more common and accepted transport for moving round.

Bicycles for the younger people and Motor Bikes for the adults who have work to do.

They do have them here, you can rent them here, but you have to understand that they are not thought of seriously, nor respected.

Now if you want to get married and ride off on a bicycle made for two, that we can do. You may not go far but you will look interesting.

But if you want to go trekking on a bicycle made for two, I would think you were crazy.

Even the modern side by side futuristic models they make nowadays are not able to survive on the roads here, never mind the back country, which is most of Greece.
