Trains
There are some interesting things in Greece where railways are concerned
They are modernising the Railway between Piraeus, Athens and Thessalonica, there’re express and regular (high-speed) trains so most are now modern and air-conditioned
From Athens to the Peloponnesus there are many levels, the coastal scenic route and the cross country scenic route

For Train Buffs
They have the longest working meter- track rail railway in Europe running from the Peloponnesus to Athens in Europe
They have the Pelion railway that has opened up for tourism on Mt Pelion that goes over 5 Stone Bridges and one Iron Bridge in the middle of Greece
They have a 75 cm track-railway in Diakopto, near Corinth
There is the Rail Museum in Athens
Note: I am not a Railway Buff but I have had many a fantastic journey on trains, so if you want me to find you more information, just say

Well besides the fact that trains can be romantic, there is the fact that you should try all the forms of transport whilst you can
Note that I never got to ride in Concord, and unless I meet one of the rich who bought one and still has it in operation and not in a museum (yes I have been through the original in Cambridge, but it was on the ground)
So steam trains are rare to find in operation for more than a couple of miles of track
With the updating of the Track here in Greece to the modern engines and gauge of track, the old style in the Peloponnesus is looking like their turn is next
Progress - You can't stop it
There are companies that say they can take you through the whole of Europe to Greece, and vice versa
You can go to Turkey from Greece, I know as I have been
And getting the chance to eat a 3-course meal in a real dinning car is something
Romantic?

A restaurant with a theater and a good menu, in the heart of Athens
Each table is in its own carriage, (not exactly but the feeling of being in a train is there)
Not a new train
But rather like the Orient Ecpress of the 1950's
